About Meld

How far would you go to save someone you love,
and have a chance to live forever?

Meld’s jaw-dropping first chapter draws you into the chaos and mind-blowing ending to come.

Think of the suspense and action of Tom Clancy’s Jack Ryan. Then add the strangeness and conflict of the Divergent series, and the psychological drama and plot twists of a Harlan Coben novel.

Tess, nineteen and headstrong, is living at the cultish Church of Eon with other children. Tess is convinced Anya, Eon’s head priestess, is lying to them and she’s right. Eon is about extending the lives of the super-rich by transferring their minds into Eon’s children.

Alec and Rachel are nearly sixty and happily married. They run Cybanon, a highly successful cybersecurity company in present day LA. When Rachel becomes terminally ill, Anya offers Alec mind transfer Melds for Rachel and himself. By Melding them with Tess and her boyfriend, Anya hopes to gain access to Totem, Rachel’s powerful cybersecurity and hacking software. Anya knows that Totem is essential to creating foolproof new identities for her reborn clients. She also needs it for her political aspirations

Convinced Rachel won’t agree, Alec is faced with an impossible choice. Then when things go horribly wrong, his actions threaten everyone he loves. In the runaway action that ensues, precarious alliances need to be formed to give everyone any hope of survival.

Feeling let down by too many average endings, Chris decided to write Meld to see if he could do better. He’d love to know whether you think he succeeded.
